Root domains don’t ping
Some spammers have found a new tactic.
The root domains (compare http://spamhuntress.com/ or http://www.spamhuntress.com/. Those are root domains. http://mysite.spamhuntress.com/ would be a subdomain) don’t ping. You need to enter the whole URL including subdomain for it to ping.
That’s the case with the last two spammers I’ve posted about, who I suspect are one and the same, if you look at the similarity in tactics and domain naming. Some domains appear to have been reposessed, but domains from both the Zahariev and the Norwegian is hosted on the same service. I believe I’ve more or less proved my case.

They need to update their AUP, but I’ll notify them anyway.

Except for http://www.anonsi.com/carisoprodol.html which pings 66.154.65.125 (alsx.com), same webhost.

These guys have been the bane of my existence for a few months now. From the formatting, they appear related to other trackback spam I’ve received. Interesting pattern, too. One will come in, then a few, then about a dozen in quick succession. Happened to be online twice when this has happened.

Carpathia got rid of the spammer. I’ve now sent an abuse message to cyberwurx. We’ll see what they do.
