Admitted to Dmoz
I submitted a post on my blog to The Directory Project last week. I picked out a sub category off the spam category, and submitted an article I found especially useful for that category.
I noticed an editor visited the site on Sunday.
Just now, I saw the first regular referrer.
The editor placed the blog in the main spam category. Thank you! That was quite nice.

Update June 8, 2005
I just saw a referrer from an abuse address on dmoz.org. Then I saw a referrer that must have been from the person who reported the “abuse”. Akamarketing.
I have something to say:
I have no clue who the dmoz editor is, beyond his or her name. It’s not a friend of mine, but as far as I can tell, it’s someone who was already reading my blog when I submitted. The reason I thought of submitting at that point was because I’d seen referrers from some personal bookmarks that was connected to dmoz.org. That turned out to be the editor of that category, as far as I can tell. But I’ve never e-mailed with this person, nor has he or she commented on the blog more than here, as far as I know.
Not everything is abuse or collusion.
Geez…
second update
That kctipton has eyes everywhere. There’s a post in the thread on that forum now as well.
Third update: I found my site on this page:
http://dmoz.org/Bookmarks/K/kctipton/ April 18. That’s when I thought, hmm, maybe I should submit to Dmoz. I just went back to my log files now to find the exact date. I remembered the events. I believe the editor must have read my blog at least now and then prior to me submitting, since I was already in his/her private bookmarks in the dmoz system. Looks like I’m out of the bookmarks now, though.

Looks like the abuse complainer is upset that you got in quick and he didn’t. He obviously has no clue how Dmoz works. Some editors are fast, others aren’t.

Thinking hard about this, I think I found your site while navigating a spiderweb of spambusting-related sites. I added it, then I noticed you’d submitted already to the category I added it to (or maybe to a subcategory of that).
As for having eyes everywhere, I use Pubsub and some other searches to deliver, via RSS, mentions of DMOZ and some other keywords that I like to follow. So, really, I have others looking for me, then I visit what looks interesting.
