Spam submitter

I do occasional sweeps for spam submitters, just in case I find stuff that should be removed.

Here’s one that I hope will be gone in a few days:

Spam submitter

After MCI had to boot Send-Safe, there are fewer and fewer spam submitters left on the net. Even ESThost booted Eugene Blagodarny’s spam submitter!

The IP of the site is:
69.93.251.68
And as far as I know, complaints should go to abuse at theplanet.com
If they don’t respond favorably, we need to step up the pressure.

This one has been widely spamvertized as well. From among others these IP numbers:
194.242.118.198
194.242.118.82
213.227.198.216

We also get lots of spam from theplanet.com. They appear to be a big problem on the Internet. Perhaps if more Webmasters and server admins banded together, theplanet.com could be pursuaded to act more responsibly.

What we did, was ban the entire ISP for 30 days with a nice message to their users informing them of theplanet.com’s irresponsible actions and how it directly affects their surfing and security.

I guess after enough people switched ISP’s they got the message and we often get a response now, when we email them.

You have to remember that the Planet hosts a huge number of servers,
99.99999% of which are not spammers. On top of that, the Planet DOES shut down spammers. I know because they gave me 3 days to explain some spam that linked to my site - it happened to be someone pirating my software and other music software illegally, and I explained that to them. They will only shutdown legitimate spammers, and I’m guessing that process takes time to differentiate the spammers. But don’t shutdown a huge IP range and punish the innocent - just shutdown certain IPs.
