Reffy to be sold

Pete found an auction for PRstorm, one of the Reffy incarnations.

For anyone who finds this and is thinking about buying it:

It’s spam software. They’ve had every domain associated with this software banned by Google.

Use the software on your valuable domain, and you stand the chance of a spamhunter catching up to you and having your domain banned on Google.

And, remember what Matt Cutts says: If the number of new links look unnatural, you may easily be penalized in Google. That’s what happen to a lot of new sites. Backlinks happening too fast, and a filter kicks in.

You’ve got some really interesting articles in your blogs and I think the Internet needs more people like you.
Kinda reminds me of the good ole days of the Internet in the early 90’s (which I dearly miss)

We should pool together for a bid, buy it, and pull a JAGK.com on them. How many people would it take to pony up £205.00? (That’s the current bid, anyway.)

  3. Joe says:

Sounds like an interesting idea, but its already up to £910 with 2 days left.

  4. Joe says:

Well, somehow it is now down to £621.99 with 19 hours left. I suppose there was some fake bidding problems.

  5. Joe says:

PRStorm has a new owner now. Bidding ended at approximately US $2,630.75. That seems low for such a “valuable business.” I hope the seller is very dissapointed with such a low price considering how much he claims to be making with it.

That ebay page actually says who won the bid and bought the company. User ’select46′. I’m not really an ebayer (ashamed to say I’ve never taken that plunge), but can’t we get in touch with this guy through ebay? Find out if he is aware of the sleazy nature of PRStorm. Can we leave negative comments against the seller? Not really sure how it works. I guess ebay has safeguards against all-out smear campaigns, but it seems like a good opportunity for a few well directed snide remarks.

You can only leave comments about a seller if you buy something from them. But in exchange they can leave negative about you which sellers usually do if you leave them bad feedback. Many sellers won’t leave feedback for you until you leave positive feedback for them. Seems like a very flawed system to me.

I think an ebay user can contact another ebay user, but from what I could tell about this user he appears to know what he was getting into. From other recent auctions he won he is already in the business though possibly small time.

  8. I have some questions for ’select46′!

  9. Which have now been answered today in my blog.

I have been getting a lot of ref spam as well, but what is NOT surprizing is that reading this blog is making my spysweeper software go nuts as well. So, question is what is worse. Thought I would going to type something with regards to ref spam, but to get hit by a couple of spyware blocks as the same to me. Errrr.
