Reporting to Alestra

Chris from Mexico offered to talk to Alestra about their proxies that have been misused by spammers in a comment on this post yesterday.

I haven’t seen the Alestra proxies used much lately. I was wondering if any of you have updated info on them?

Hmm, interesting. I see them being used a lot back in October. But not a single request in all of November or December so far.

WikiMinion’s records are quite similar to what Dirk reported.

WikiMinion saw only a tiny trickle of wiki spam from Alestra in November/December. The only sources were host-148-244-150-57.block.alestra.net.mx [148.244.150.57] and host-200-56-122-82.block.alestra.net.mx [200.56.122.82], of which only the first appears to be an open proxy.

However, like Dirk, WikiMinion saw much more activity from Alestra is October. The principal sources were host-148-244-150-52.block.alestra.net.mx [148.244.150.52], host-148-244-150-57.block.alestra.net.mx [148.244.150.57], and host-148-244-150-58.block.alestra.net.mx [148.244.150.58].

I haven’t had any requests through there since the end of October either…
