Beside myself here

I think I just found an identity thief. In Google’s cache of all things!

I sent Matt Cutts an SOS, hoping he’ll know what to do, and do it with some more weight than my name carries.

This joker seems to be in Bulgaria. I seem to remember something in the news about some identity thiefs caught in Bulgaria recently, so I may have caught on to this AFTER the fact.

But anyway, this stuff is erie to say the least. More details later IF I can release them! And if I hear more at all. Who knows…

Your memory is correct. Microsoft this month supported law enforcement in Bulgaria to arrest a gang of eight phishers targeting MSN customers. The link to the press release is attached.

Hmm, then this one wasn’t among them. I found no evidence he’s currently doing it. All the files I found were at least a year old. And he was targeting paypal, ebay and e-gold. I found the phishing sites as well. He’d told someone he wasn’t the one doing it, that he’d lent his password to someone. But if that’s true, why’s the files still on his machine? He shared most of his machine by accident, and Google spidered it.

I also found lists of e-mail addresses, broken down by continent, country and topic. And evidence he’d (or his friend) sold the lists to people.

    What do I do?
