Block words in Wordpress

In Wordpress, it’s possible to block certain words inside the comments. I suggest you at least block these repeat offenders:

rteasddaws@jksdhfue.com
dirare.com
areaseo.com
saddsah
and add all the regular pills they spam for. Those are often used as e-mail addresses, so it makes sense to block them.

If you’ve got many of these in your moderation queue, or even worse, approved, go to phpMyAdmin. Choose your database, then go to search. Search for these, then nuke’em directly from the database. Wordpress won’t go flaky even if you delete directly from there.

To find out what your particular spammers use that you can block by, go through the database and look at fields such as e-mail and URL. It’s easier to look at it through phpMyAdmin than the WP interface, in my opinion

With Movable Type, you can search for stuff inside the blog admin pages and delete that way.

I suggest we use non-specific words for comments. Such as gambling and pills instead of the more specific words…

I installed Spam Karma 2 on my Wordpress install, and I have as yet to lose a comment, or see much spam (though the reports I can run indicate tons of spam comments and trackbacks). If you haven’t tried that particular plug-in for WP, you might want to.
