Blue Security is out

Blue Security folded.

They didn’t want to be responsible for the irate spammer (a Russian mailspammer going under the named PharmaMaster) taking down more and more of the internet.

So the extortion worked.

This should be a wakeup call to legislators and ISP’s worldwide.

Spammers command such a vast number of zombies, they are actually capable of taking down a number of servers.

Something’s gotta give. The spammers are not planning on giving up, which means the fight must change.

What can we do?

Oh, and the Blue Frog users are pretty upset. Read their newsgroup for the latest developments.

The spammers didn’t stop targetting Blue Security even after they folded. Right now there’s no DNS entry for the site that I can find. Either the DNS server is still down, or they removed the DNS entry.

Yea, the spammer (it is debatable as to who it actually is - Spamhaus thinks the attacking spammer could be 1 of 3 different ROKSO spammers) attacked UltraDNS on 5/16 which provides many co.uk domains amd brought down Blue Security’s hosting company, Prolexic, as well

Also, Castlecops has a forum just for Blue Security and it is quite abuzz with commentary and links to articles

And as one of the posts on that newsgroup says, anyone who has the bluefrog software installed should uninstall it immediately before the spammers work out an exploit which will let them use it to attack sites…

Guess this just proves my opinion that the only way to deal with the spammers is to track ‘em down, then take ‘em out with a full-on SAS special forces raid.

Either that or slip the mafia a couple of quid to go round to their house with a bag of cement, a car battery + a set of jumper cables with a big pair of crocodile clips on the end >:-) *evil cackle*
