I’ve been seeing a lot of KLIK Media GmbH as registrar (or rather, registration service under PublicDomainRegistry) lately. Always spammy domains. So I thought I’d check if there was a connection between the registrar and the KlikVip PPC program.
Yep, it’s one and the same.
The whois on for instance KLIKVIP.com is fake (says it’s in Victoria, SC). The company is actually in Germany:

The point is that I adminstrate 4 websites that are 100 % no-profit (no ads or income from these sites)- fighting for familie- and childrens rights. In August spam and script abuse was so high that I had to use several weeks to implement webshields, or else these servers would go to slow.
I see is at scam and unethical when my hard work and servers are abused for others to earn money.

Email spammers (in US) have the can-spam act and they don’t talk much about their business now. Almost anywhere in the world you can find anti-piracy law, so software pirates sell their cd’s and keep their mouths shut ;). Untill there is a law about guesbook/blog/other spam you can’t expect us to keep silence when you hurt our business.

While it’s true that the laws haven’t kept up with the abuses, there are usually laws that can be used against you. It’s the same with e-mail spam. At the time where the laws hadn’t kept up with the abuses, law enforcement went after the spammers with other charges.
Also keep in mind that Russia just got a spam law. I haven’t read it, so I don’t know exactly what the language in it is, but it just went into effect. There are also laws against what Scrim and Asiawood did. In Russia.
And anyone using botnets - that should be covered by the same laws.

Whitehat SEO helps search engines, content providers, and most importantly internet users. Blackhat SEO hurts search engines and internet users by making finding good websites harder. And it only helps the spammer until they get caught and blacklisted.

While web spam is it is not specifically illegal in any country, it isn’t legal either and interpreting existing laws for vandalism, denial/theft of service (bandwidth and disk space), etc. it is obvious these activities should be banned. Not only does this site not make any money, it costs Spamhuntress to keep it running and she is not paied for her time tracking down web spammers. She and others of us do this because we are tired of seeing the internet degrade in to a garbage dump.
While some sites do make money off of blocking spam, that is just a necessity for providing the service and keeping it up to date. Free sites cannot keep up with the demand for checking blacklists, the traffic of users looking for help, or the childish revenge tactics spammers use.

I realy don’t know why are you doing this, because you just have no chance. I spammed your webresources for years and littered your email boxes even longer. I earned millions and payed hundreds of thousends dollars to russian programmers and spent a lot of money in Russia. I gave some people a grait job with a good salary and invested a lot of money to offline business wich is also good for my country (Russia). I also pay taxes here. Well I never robbed any one in US or Europe - people was buying what I promoted, so that people who are actually consumers of my spam also was happy (otherwise they wouldn’t buy anything).
And I don’t give a fuck if someone like you, filthy abusers and complainers, will whimper about my job and will try to fight against spam - it will just not work. If I were you I’d try to do something usefull for myself, my folks and my country instead of sniveling and abusing.

Actually I entirely agree with you that if I were that person, I would make myself rediculous to complain about spam, since this individuum has all sort of domains ranging from pr0n to malware installations. But be assured, I’m not in the adult business and I do practice what I preach. The fact that we’re on the opposite site of the fence doesn’t automatically mean I’m considering you (or anyone else) as my enemy.
The main points I find disturbing are (no particular order):
- not checking whether resources actually show spam
- not honouring people asking to be excluded from the database
- deleting content and replacing it with spam in Wikis
- using exploits for gaining unauthorised access to servers and planting spam tools
- spam pointing to malware to recruit zombies or install unwanted spy/adware
Regarding the rest, it depends on what is considered spam by the entity you’re primarily targetting, the search engines. The second factor is, whether those who serve as “link provider” are doing it with full consent and have the option to “opt out”.

One thing I don’t quite understand here… Spammers will generally talk (as they did here) about their children needing food, etc and that’s why they SPAM. Something that is quite funny here is, if they arn’t making the statistically salary for their area, how did they buy a computer, get an internet connection, a server(generally multiple), and also the money to buy these hundreds of domain names?
I mean, come on? Why do you try and talk against “westerners” or people from other countries, when you in turn pay us to house your servers that you host these sites on, and when you get shutoff, you move to another US based provider. Even UK based provider, I don’t care. If your so against the US and people who have sites that associate with the US People and other countries, why not get your servers in Russia or your home country? WHY?

one little secret - nowadays is too many dummies in business. there are about 15-18 y.o. and use their heads just 2 eat and drink.

K, I think I should explain about Klik Media and spamming. My point, when I talked about them at all, is that I think it’s one company in two roles that can easily be at odds with each other.
Let’s say some of their PPC masters do webspamming (guestbook spamming, blog spamming, etc). If that PPC master is also a client of the registrar, who’s owned by the same company as the PPC program, then that owner company would be in a pickle if blog owners etc sent abuse complaints, and demanded that the domains be frozen.
We’ve got a saying in Norway, that I’ll try to translate: “Don’t let the buck in charge of the oat sack.” What that means, is that a creature whose only thought is to get at and eat what’s in the sack, should not be in charge of the sack.
It’s the same principle that ensures that government, law enforcement and judicial isn’t in the hands of the same agencies.
So my problem with Klik Media owning a registrar AND a PPC company, is that I can see all sorts of theoretical conflicts arising from that.
And I came upong the evidence that the person promising a BMW as a price for topping the list of masters, said he owned Klik Media. I found that reference while investigating Scrimak - who registered his domains at Klik Media.
I guess the test case should be - do you guys think Scrimak did anything wrong? I think he’s both a hacker (cracker, actually) and a spammer. I think his actions are bad enough, he should forfeit his domains.

Yep - we’re also being hit by *attempted* spam advertizing a domain (mnoga.com) under the KLIK Media umbrella. (Attempted, because I wrote filtering software that’s now ended the problem for us.)
So Spamhuntress, what can be done at this point? Do you have any ideas?
An RBL for spambots? Adaptable as a WP plugin, and as plugins for other software?
As well as various antispam measures. And the more individual for each site, the more effective.

Webhosts and registrars that have a lot of spam on them could be considered bad neighborhoods. If you have regular (non-spammy) sites in a bad neighborhood, that’s your responsibility. I would try and make sure my non-commercial sites are nowhere near a bad neighborhood.
