Blogspam way worse
I’m still working on another project, so I haven’t had much time to keep up on approving posts. And then while that’s going on, comment spam is going through the roof. It’s more than doubled since I started that project.
Is it just here, or is this going on all over the place?
Pretty soon I’ll have to install some anti-spam software here. Handling it manually just isn’t an option anymore, even though I’ve got pretty extensive bad word filters.
It’s not just you, it’s all over the place.
I think it’s pretty Much everywhere if my non-popular blogs are being hit like crazy…
Grab yourself a copy of akismet. ( http://akismet.com/ ) It’s eaten ~12k spam for me in just a few months.
You’ll need an API key from http://wordpress.com/api-keys/ too.

I’ve had success using a random code in a hidden field. This field is stored in the session, and checked when the form is posted. That makes automated spamming a bit harder at least.
Then there is always aksimet: http://akismet.com/download/
I don’t think I should be advising you, but SK2 would be a good option if you want to receive the spam and analyze it as well. Is that what you are working to do?
Personally, I don’t like Akismet
Akismet has killed 44,000 comments on my blog since April. Less than one percent made it through to moderation. I use the Akismet worst offenders extension from Rich Boakes for analysis along with SQL queries.
I use spam karma II with the Akismet plugin. Double protection!

i got an idea, however, to try and make money off them, so i got a really weird question for you:
- how do i get AS MUCH SPAM AS IT IS POSSIBLE on my blog?
i don`t care it it`s comments or any other robots that visit my page, just as long as they visit the page and my ads get shown to them.
that way i can generate money from spammers!!!
but to do that, i need AS MANY SPAMBOTS as i can get to flood my site…
is there a spam index of some sort where i can “sell” the addresses of my spamcather blogs?

Lol, that will make you even worse than the spammers.
I’ve had one or two comment spam come through but they never get published. Nevertheless they still sit in the Junk folder. The worse spam I’ve gotten so far is Trackback spam. Those just hit the site all the time, continuously. They don’t get pass the spam filter but they also just sit in the Junk folder. I have to constantly go into the Admin panel to delete them or they’ll just take up space on the server.

but, since spam is becoming a considerable and uncontrollable power in the net, why not try to exploit THEM, using their own malicious ways against themselves?! :))))
I want a last 200 or 100 refererrs script to work with my wordpress. Do you know good one that allows you to add in domains to block the spammers? I would really like that script. Thanks, BTW great site.
I don’t know of any script that can do that. Publishing your referrers at all just invites spammers to abuse your site.
