It’s back on.
I have access to quite a few computers, and lately I’ve noticed something I first thought was an issue on just one computer:
Youtube videos stop after about 2 seconds. I can jog them started by moving the slider, but they stop after a few seconds again.
Then it started happening on another machine, and now it’s even started happening on my main computer. What I noticed on the first one, was that Youtube videos worked right after I’d turned the computer on, but if I waited until it had been on for a while, it wouldn’t work.
I’ve seen quite a few hits on Google about this issue, and a lot of things have been reported to work that I find unconvincing. I’ll try and summarize:
Some report no sound. I’ve seen that happen, though not on all computers. One guy (running Linux) reports no flash content has sound.
When this happens, it seems to happen across browsers - ie, opening another browser won’t help.
Conclusion: It’s recent (a few months). It’s got to do with Flash. It’s affecting several platforms. It’s not limited to Youtube videos.
One person seems to have found the answer. See the answer from Bo here today, saying it’s an issue with Flash versions 9.0r47 and newer. Problem is, older ones have a security issue.
